REBERT DAMOUR
Born in Leogane. Entirely self-taught. Went to live with his mother in
Port-au-Prince. She made her living selling coffee by the cup to people in
the street. When someone asked him why he painted his stick figures, he said, “One day I
suddenly remember a man who often used to pass in front of our house
when I was a kid. He was very tall and thin and made me laugh…Then I painted him, like a
stick…”
